OUR MISSION is to combat discrimination against current and former inmates, ensure equal access to effective legal representation, and to improve the conditions of confinement in Ghanaian prisons.
OUR VISION is of a society in which every person is granted equal and fair access to justice and is treated with dignity during and beyond incarceration.
We collaborate with local artists, academics and others to alter public perceptions and improve the self-worth of prison inmates.
We advocate for greater accountability within our criminal justice system, and for the removal of barriers to fair justice faced by those lacking in economic, educational and social resources.
We seek to work with the government and prison service to bring about positive policy change, and advocate in particular for the abolition of the death penalty.
We increase understanding of the judicial system and individual rights, by providing high quality legal advice and representation for the socially and economically marginalised at all stages of their interaction with the criminal justice system.
We operate regular legal aid clinics at Nsawam Prison, providing an opportunity to review individual case files, provide an understanding of their legal case and so enable informed choices.
We provide care packages containing basic requirements for a humane existence.
We endeavour to financially assist with medical support that may otherwise be inaccessible to individuals within a prison setting.
We work with Nsawam Prison School to facilitate access to the resources needed to improve educational opportunities within the prison.
We collaborate with local artists, academics and business entrepreneurs to deliver skills workshops in an otherwise inaccessible environment.
